Thoughts from Hélène Boudreau
Picture Book Writing Process: How Hélène Boudreau Wrote I DARE YOU NOT TO YAWN (Candlewick Press)
It's gloomy outside. Time for a little break from my artwork.
I have yet to read I Dare You Not to Yawn but I wanted to share this article from a pretty awesome blog called Inkygirl.
Hélène Boudreau creates stories for picture books and Young Adults. That's an impressive combo. It was interesting to read about the process of picture book writing from the writer's point of view. She talks about the evolution process of the book and I like the fact that she was very honest about the entire process. I love, love the simple illustrations by Serge Bloch, french artist. Days like this makes me excited about picture books, art and illustration.
Moving Forward
I've signed on with a new Agency in New York. Link is above if you want to have a look. She seems quite a go getter and no nonsense lady. I like the fact that she is super focus and gets things done. I was a bit nervous doing this as my last experience wasn't so great. Chemistry and having the same drive and goals really does make a big difference. I am learning that sometimes it's nice to let go and allow someone else to guide your career. I'm excited and looking forward to this. Let's see what the next couple of months brings us. It will be a nice relief to have someone take over some part of the business while I am busy with my projects at the moment. So on to the next chapter......
